Take What's Better by Nature.

Nutrilite® Vitamins and Supplements

Hi!  I'm Diane Whelan, MPH, RD, a graduate of After the Diet's PCOS Course.  I am also a representative for Nutrilite Vitamins.  I wanted to take a minute to share with you why I've decided to combine my interests in PCOS and Nutrilite.   In my training as a Registered Dietitian it was ingrained in me that all necessary nutrients could (and should) be obtained from food, that the US has the safest food supply in the world, and that any health professional that tried to sell you something was a quack.

So when I was first introduced to Nutrilite products I was quite skeptical.  Since I was told about them by another dietitian, I decided to TRY to be open-minded enough to visit the plant and then I would politely bow out.  The tour of the Nutrilite Health Institute Center for Optimal Health changed my mind!

Nutrilite is the world's leading brand of vitamin, mineral, and dietary supplements.  Its dedication to research, education and personalized health are impressive.  They are passionate about organic farming and grow all their own ingredients.  The commitment to quality is apparent when one tours the facility.  After doing much of my own research and visiting the plant, I now enthusiastically recommend their products and genetic testing.

If you're new to vitamins, here is a basic reference chart that tells you why they're important:

Nutrilite has a product called Double X® that contains a couple of ingredients recently referenced in the medical literature as being potentially benefical to PCOS.

Alpha-lipoic Acid
Alpha-lipoic acid
(ALA) is a powerful antioxidant that is not easily found in foods.  It is helpful in treating insulin resistance, high blood pressure, and depression.  One interesting thing about alpha-lipoic acid is that when it is in the body, it helps many other antioxidants be more powerful than they would be on their own.

has been found to be helpful in the treatment of anxiety and obsessive thinking.  A recent article reported that it may even help with ovulation.
As much as possible, I like to steer my clients toward better food choices.  But it's become clear to me that sometimes a little kick start can help.  When you're anxious and stressed about doing the right thing, it doesn't help to try to go into a health food store and sort through the thousands of supplements and brands.  I wanted to work with a company that produced a high quality product that I could offer my clients.  That way, they can spend their time on those food choices, and being more physically active.  And some of the stressful decision making is taken out of the picture.

I am happy to help you with any questions you may have about the company, the products, or PCOS.
